1982

1982 was the year I entered the Day Camp Zone. I remember that Steve Collester had worked the summer before, and it was he who asked me if I was interested in joining up. Unsure and a little hesitant, I approached Ron Jones and let him know that I was interested, but wasn't sure if kids and I mixed. Ron said I could try it out to see what I thought. My trial run turned into 5 summers which still fill my brain with some of the most memorable times in my life.

I remember the first kid I tried talking to was Casky Dixon. I also remember Ron and Ed who would go out back of Fellowship Hall and see how many consecutive baskets they could make with a basket ball.

1984

I remember 1984 was the year of the 1984 Olympics. (Amazing, huh?!) Anyway, this year Day Camp undertook one of the greatest feats this side of the Internet. With a torch run, competition and an award ceremony (Olympic fanfare music playing in the background), Day Camp set the standard in Day Camp excellence and won a place in Burbank's local newspaper!
